Spring Drama Production in Duxford
May 11 at 7:30 pm - May 12 at 10:00 pm£7.50
Duxford Village Drama is all set to go with their spring production of Charles Mander’s “Getting Along”. Set in France, a group of friends are followed on their holiday to a gîte in the Midi. However Henry’s organisation of the perfect summer getaway comes rapidly unstuck and mayhem threatens… Mander’s acutely observed comedy will make you think twice about trusting a man with a map!
Performances are at the United Reformed Church in Duxford on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th May. Doors open at 7.30 for 8pm and there will be an interval break for a casse croûte (snack). Tickets (£7.50) are available from the box office from 24th April tel. 01223 839376.
Founded in 2016 with support from the Duxford Advent Trust, DVD is already embracing a wide range of talents. Alan Bywaters, Chairman, said:
“bringing amateur theatre to the heart of the village is our tag-line. Creating new relationships and encouraging that all-important factor – community spirit – is what we are about”.
Of course there are actors in the front line. However actors need costumes, props, lighting, make-up, a stage, publicity, rehearsal facilities and on-the-night hospitality, which are all being busily supported by a keen “back room” team. DVD tries to involve as many in the community as possible, either in the production team or as performers. They are especially keen to attract people of all ages and abilities, and to give a taste of all aspects of theatre performance, production and support.
