Litter and dog waste bins

Litter and Dog Waste Bins

South Cambs District Council is gradually replacing the dog waste bins with dual purpose bins for both litter and dog-waste.  These are large green bins, sited at ground level with open slots.

In response to residents’ concerns about increased environmental and health risks during warmer weather, SCDC have informed the Parish Council that they will engage a review as we get into spring and summer 2019.

Bins sited near roads and streets should never be full and should be emptied at least once a week. Disposable liners, if present, will be replaced and any additional litter around the bin picked up.

If you would like to report an overflowing bin, please contact South Cambs District Council on 03450 450 063.

The Duxford Advent Trust and Market

The Duxford Advent Trust was founded in 2011 to provide a “home” for the village Advent Market. The Advent Market has become a very successful village Christmas community event, held in redundant St John’s Church and enjoyed by Duxford residents and visitors alike each December.

The Advent Market is both a community-enhancing project in its own right and a means of fund-raising. Money raised by the Market is used by the Trust to benefit the Village community through a small grants programme. More details about this, our work and how to apply, can be found on our website

Getting involved in the Advent Market is great fun, whether helping set up St Johns for the festivities, welcoming visitors, operating a stall or just coming along with friends and family. If you’d like to join in, please contact us at
